Granada TV News Item on planned library closures

on Monday, 18 April 2011.

Click the video below to see the feeling at Grappenhall library, when Granada Reports, our local TV channel came to interview residents about how they felt.

Joe Blott of WBC (Warrington Borough Council) explained that the mobile library service as well as Great Sankey library will also lose their library service. South Warrington (Latchford, Grappenhall, Grappenhall Heys, Thelwall), will definitely miss the local Grappenhall library, people of all ages told the reporter Amy Welch, mothers, children and older residents saw it as a great meeting place. It’s obvious that it will be sadly missed and its important that in the area we organise ourselves to see how we can replace the vital function that the library fulfills in our community.

Friends of Grappenhall Library was formed to try to return the building to library and/or community use. By and for volunteers.

Many thanks to Michaela for providing the video for us.
